Service Learning

Bronte Creek was certainly not the first program that used service learning as a pedagogical strategy but it certainly was at the core of our program, from the second year on. By definition service learning occurs, when both the learners providing the service and the community benefit. Our students Learned skills, while giving back to the community at large, through teaching younger children. A win/win. Our students had a semester long experience, developing important life skills and then applying these skills, working with young children, who visited us for several days at a time. For us, the biggest part of the learning at both ends was, that young people became more aware and engaged with the environmental threats we all face.
